LINO LAKES, Minn. — A precautionary lockdown at Centennial Middle School and Blue Heron Elementary School was lifted Thursday afternoon after law enforcement resolved an active standoff and domestic safety incident in a nearby neighborhood, officials confirmed.

Shortly before 12:30 p.m., deputies from the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential address in the 7100 block of Snow Owl Lane Northeast in response to a disconnected 911 call and follow‑up text messages suggesting a possible domestic assault. When officers made contact at the home, they heard a gunshot from inside, prompting an immediate tactical response and establishment of a secure perimeter around the property.

As a precaution, law enforcement advised the Centennial School District to place both Centennial Middle School and nearby Blue Heron Elementary into soft lockdown while the situation was assessed. District officials quickly implemented safety protocols, keeping students and staff in secured classrooms and restricting access to school facilities until the threat could be evaluated.

During the response, officers were able to escort another occupant safely out of the home without injury. After securing the perimeter and completing a controlled assessment of the residence, deputies discovered the suspect inside had died from an apparent self‑inflicted gunshot wound. Authorities said there is no known ongoing threat to the public and that they are not seeking additional suspects in connection with the incident.

Following confirmation that the situation was resolved and poses no further danger, school officials lifted the lockdown. Students were dismissed at their routine time, although bus departures were slightly delayed as operations resumed.
